LAKES COMMISSIONERS’ FORUM A SUCCESS, SAYS OFFICIAL

The Commissioners’ Forum that concluded on Thursday in Rumbek, Lakes State, was a success, said a government official.

Marko Col Maciec, who serves in the Government of Lakes State as Advisor for Political Affairs, explained that the three-day Commissioners’ Forum clarified the role of the county commissioners in service delivery, adding that the deliberations would contribute to the “enhancement of local government and the decentralization policy.

Mr. Col added that county officials showed concern and expressed interest in participating in the planning, management and use of local resources.

Mr. Col encouraged government officials at the forum to maintain this participatory way of governance, describing it as a “bottom up approach”.

He explained that it involved everyone in the community and ensured effective mobilization and equitable distribution of resources, leading to a “win-win” situation.

Mr. Col concluded by emphasizing the importance of using resources for the welfare of all citizens, explaining that it would guarantee peace and stability ahead of the referendum.

Lakes State Commissioners gathered for three days at Rumbek Business Complex under the theme “Good Platform for Consensus Building, for Enhancing Local Government and Effective Service Delivery.”
