An investigative team consisting of five members is assessing the damage left by clashes between government forces and armed groups in Lainya town early July.
The team is headed by Muki Batali, who is the advisor to the governor on security affairs, Radio Easter reports.
Many residents fled the town and few are accommodated in church compounds, officials say.
State government spokesperson, Stephen Lado Onesimo, says the team will also investigate the killing of lay reader while collecting food items in her garden.
Another team of government officials escorted Commissioner of Lainya Augustino Kiri Gwollo to his county after calm returned to the area, Lado adds.
He appeals to the people of Lainya Payam to return to their residents.
The committee will render its report to the state governor within two days.
