The Churches agreed with the Government of South Sudan to observe and monitor all stages of the referenda processes, support civic education, create space for promoters of both options to carry out their campaigns and make sure the popular consultations are held on time.
These were the main resolution at the end of the Kejiko 2 Church and Government Forum that took place in Juba earlier in the week.The Church representatives agreed to participate actively in official and non official processes on resolving conflicts and disagreements over Abyei.
Regarding Abyei, South Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains, the signatories resolved to advocate for the protection of the Church and Church property and the promotion of religious freedoms.
On the People to People Peacemaking Process, the parties decided to strengthen the linkage between Church and Government through available channels.
The Church should also make operational its formal linkage with the African Union High Level Implementation Committee.
The Kejiko 2 Church and Government Forum took place in Juba from October 5 to 7, 2010.
