Convene an urgent heads of state summit in Juba, Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC Chairperson urged Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD.
Festus G. Mogae in his address in Kigali, Rwanda on Saturday said the summit will arrest the deteriorating situation and assure the people of South Sudan of IGAD’s continuing commitment to the peace process.
He also pleaded to the IGAD heads of state to take all necessary measures and ensure the parties fully implement the peace agreement.
The Chairperson recommended full investigation and accountability for those who bear direct responsibility in the violence.
Mogae wanted the meeting to call upon the President and his First Vice to ensure that their forces respect the Cessation of Hostilities and the Ceasefire.
He called for immediate cantonment of armed forces throughout the country according to the Permanent Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements.
The Chairperson demanded the IGAD summit to appeal to the international community to address the dire humanitarian situation.
He wanted the meeting to endorse the deployment of an international protection force to guarantee safety and security in Juba.
