JMEC expresses deep concerns over fresh fighting in South Sudan

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission, JMEC says it is deeply concerned by fresh incidents of fighting in many parts of the country.
 
The Commission says such recurrent conflict could be a deliberate violation of the permanent ceasefire agreement.

JMEC describes the reports of exchange of gunfire between forces of President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Dr Riek Machar as troublesome.
 
The Commission calls on all the parties to refrain from the use of force and engage in dialogue to ensure the implementation of the peace agreement in letter and spirit.
