South Sudan National Editors’ Forum joins East Africa

The South Sudan National Editors’ Forum or NEF becomes member of the East African Editors’ Forum.
 
This historical incident occurred in an interactive meeting with their counterpart, the Kenya Editors’ Guild in Nairobi Kenya last week.
 
Kenyan Editors’ Guild Assistant Secretary, Hassan Kulundu announced that the South Sudan editors’ body is officially admitted to the regional body.
 
He says there were no requirements needed for South Sudan to join its brothers in East Africa, since the country is now part of it.
 
The East African Editors’ Forum is a non-profit making organization that brings together the most senior print, magazine, broadcast and other electronic media editors in the region.
 
Koang Pal Chang, Chairman of NEF, says the admittance of the forum to the regional body will contribute towards the defence and promotion of media freedom and independence in the country and Africa at large.
 
It will also lead to growth of network; enhance cooperation and communication.
 
The membership in this Forum will help South Sudan uphold the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in journalism.’ Koang continues.
 
South Sudan Editors’ Forum members are editors-in-chief, managing editors, editorial directors, program editors, production editors, assignment editors, website/online editors, radio directors and editors and media houses supervisors.
 
The objective of the NEF is to defend freedom of expression and promote journalistic ethics and diversity in the media of South Sudan.
