ICRC airplanes evacuate 17 people wounded in Raja clashes

The International Committee of the Red Cross or ICRC has evacuated 17 wounded people from Raja town by air the clashes.
 
ICRC says in a statement on Sunday that the patients were flown to Juba via Wau to be cared for by its surgical teams.
 
The violence left dozens of casualties, it reports.
 
ICRC sent two airplanes and medical teams and evacuated the most severe wounded people.
 
The agency says the fighting forced hundreds of people to flee their homes for safety.
 
There was large-scale of looting, including three vehicles belonging to the Red Cross, it adds.
 
The fighting has had a severe impact on civilians, says Juerg Eglin, the head of delegation for the ICRC in South Sudan.
 
The official urges all sides to spare the civilians and grant them access to health care.
