The Catholic Bishops of South Sudan urge President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar to reassure the citizens of their willingness to work together for the good of the nation.

The Bishops in a statement released on Thursday after their three-day meeting in Juba, advise the two leaders to make practical symbolic gestures like praying together.

They invite President Kiir and Dr Machar to tour the country, meet the ordinary people together and pay special attention to those displaced from their homes.

The bishops call on all leaders, citizens and friends to commit to the reformation and reconstruction of the nation and build peace together.

They invite all South Sudanese and people of goodwill throughout the world to continue praying and working for peace and reconciliation in the country.

The Catholic prelates request President Kiir and Dr Machar to make a short spiritual retreat together and that they would be happy to facilitate it.
