South Sudan Human Rights Society for Advocacy condemns the recent clashes in Kajo-Keji and urges President Salva Kiir and his first vice Dr Riek Machar to control their forces.
The parties in the Transitional Government of National Unity should restrain from violence and fully implement the Peace Agreement, the Society urges.
It calls on the leadership to get rid of disobedient war-like generals in order to desist from violence.
The incident is very unfortunate and a clear violation of the ceasefire provided for in the August 2015 Peace Agreement, the Society remarks in a statement.
It calls on the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism to urgently move to Kajo-Keji to investigate the incident and verify the presence of SPLA-In-Opposition forces in the area.
The Society also urges humanitarian agencies to move in to assess the situation and assist vulnerable groups affected by the violence in Kajo-Keji.
