Stop military action to give peace a chance, the Episcopal Church Diocese of Kajo-Keji urges the Transitional Government of National Unity in a wake of new violence.
Bishop Anthony Poggo in a statement also appeals to humanitarian organizations to quickly move in to Kajo-Keji to render assistance needed for the displaced people especially the children and the elderly.
The bishop requests partners to support the church in protecting, feeding and sheltering displaced persons who are now occupying church and school compounds.
He says the displaced population urgently needs tents, blankets, medicine, food and water.
Fighting erupted in Kajo-Keji’s Kansuk area in Nyepo Payam last week resulting in displacement of hundreds of civilians and several deaths of civilians and combatants.
The fight is reportedly between forces of President Salva Kiir and those of his first deputy, Dr Riek Machar.
