Sudan pledges to hand over geological information to South Sudan

Sudanese Minister of Minerals has pledged to hand over geological information in their government’s possession to its South Sudanese counterpart.
 
Ahmed Sadig Al Karouri told reporters that they will also train South Sudan geological and technical cadres and improve joint cooperation in minerals, agencies reported.
 
He made the promise on Sunday during the joint discussions of Sudanese and South Sudanese delegations in Khartoum.
 
South Sudan Minister of Mining Taban Deng Gai told the media that the young country is keen to benefit from Sudan’s experience in the exploitation and development of minerals.
 
He stressed that there is evidence of valuable mineral resources including gold and diamonds in 44 percent of South Sudan’s area.
 
The minister added that the purpose of their visit to Khartoum is to acquaint with South Sudan geological information stored in the Sudan before the secession.
 
South Sudan delegation visited Sudan Gold Refinery and the Public Authority for Geological Research.
