As the world celebrates Environmental Day, a consultant in Juba City Council says plans are underway to keep the City clean.
Diseremo Sebit John says the city council submitted proposals to Japan International Cooperation Agency and UN Environmental Program to ease the work, Radio Bakhita reports.
Sebit says the project is expected to start at the end of this year.
‘It’s going to be a great change by 2017, but still we are trying to finalize these agreements, mutual understanding such that we can see into it that the government is working hard to help us in this particular time’, he explains.
Sebit admits that resident of Juba are dumping garbage anyhow in the City.
He says the city council finds it very difficult to collect waste in the town because of inadequate resources.
Sebit calls on Juba residents to stop dumping rubbish on the road at night.
‘We know you are very innocent you don’t understand, but we need to advised you that please do not do that because now the by-law will take its course if we continue to do that in order to make Juba not clean’, the consultant emphasized.
Sebit says cleaning the city is a collective responsibility of every person residing in Juba.
