Yei Local Football Association and State Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports are preparing to open an annual football tournament.
This follows an earlier pledge made by Yei River State Governor David Lokonga, that a yearly football competition would be held in honour of the late Sister Veronika Rackova, Radio Easter reports.
State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Stephen Lodu Onesimo, on Tuesday thanked the national football association for approving the tournament.
The football tournament is expected to start in mid June for 15 days, says John James Wani, head of Yei Local Football Association.
It will be extended to other counties of the state in the near future, Lodu adds.
The registered eight football clubs for girls in the local association will also participate in the tournament.
Sister Veronika, medical doctor of St Bakhita Health Centre died of her wounds following gunshot by suspected SPLA soldiers last month.
The government earlier said the three suspected soldiers were still under investigation.
