Yei Prison has received three tractors from the Ministry of Interior to increase food production.
The Inspector of Prison, Gore Wurjo says they plan to open 175 feddans early June, Radio Easter reports.
He says the tractors would help the prison authorities and inmates produce enough food for consumption and surplus for the market.
Wurjo adds that they will plant maize and sorghum in the second agricultural season this year.
Wurjo calls on the State Ministry of Agriculture to provide to them seeds and other small tools.
Drivers for the tractors have been trained, he adds.
The three tractors are part of President Salva Kiir’s 1000 donation in 2015 to supplement efforts to fight hunger in the country.
