Bargel community fears two states’ border dispute

The citizens of Bargel Payam of Wulu County, Western Lakes State fear border dispute between their state and Gok.

Sidala Matet Machot, a member of SPLM National Liberation Council in Bargel, told Radio Good News that there are indicators of conflict following the visit of Gok Governor to the area.

He accuses Gok state government for entering into Western Lakes’ territory and created Boma under Bargel to be part of Cuiebet County.

Matet appeals to the two states’ administrations to resolve the issue quickly to avoid further conflict.

Gok State Information Minister John Madol Panther in a telephone interview denies the allegations.

He says the governments of the two states’ are working together to promote peace among citizens.

Madol appeals to people who are creating problems to stop and accept ourselves that we belong to greater lakes states.

Bargel Payam is among pending proposed four additional counties under Western Lakes State.
