20,000 IDPs leave UN protection sites, says Official

More than twenty thousand internally displaced persons have moved out of the protection of civilian sites in the past months, says United Nations Mission in South Sudan official.
 
UNMISS Relief, Reintegration and Protection Coordinator, Sam Muhumure, says the IDPs left the camps voluntarily after improvement of security in some parts of the country, Radio Bakhita reports.
 
He calls on South Sudanese to encourage IDPs to willingly return home to enable them take part in rebuilding their communities.
 
The Coordinator urges government and development partners to provide more basic services in community affected by the conflict to help in the resettlement of displaced persons.
 
UNMISS is hosting more than 100 thousand IDPs in its bases across the country.
