944 Sudanese from South Kordofan arrived in Yida Refugee Camp of South Sudan in the last two weeks of April this year, the United Nations Refugee agency, UNHCR says.

The refugee influx represents 45 percent increase compared to the first two weeks of April, UNHCR says.

The new arrivals reported hunger, aerial bombardments and ground fighting as the main reasons for fleeing to South Sudan.

A new community centre for refugees and IDPs has been opened in Juba at Gudele area by UNHCR partner Humane Development Consortium to provide individual protection and legal counselling for refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

The community centre serves as a referral focal point for persons with specific needs.

UNHCR says it has reached 1,200 vulnerable IDPs in Western Bahr al Ghazal to provide sanitary pads, blankets and kitchen sets.
