South Sudan has joined the globe in marking the International Midwives Day this Thursday with calls for pregnant women to deliver in hospitals.

Midwives and trainers in the International Medical Corps, IMC’s Kajo-Keji Health Institute used the International Midwives Day to visit orphans at St Bartholomew Orphanage.

Speaking to the press, the midwives call on pregnant women all over the country to consider delivering at medical facilities instead of risking to give birth at homes.

They also call on the public to value the profession of midwives.

The midwives regret a great loss of mothers and babies during deliveries at homes in the country.
