Hundreds of University of Bahr El-Ghazal students blocked all roads leading to the main campus and the administration in protest against lack of power and water.
The protestors used stones, empty water tanks and wheel tires, Voice of Hope reports.
The demonstration started on Monday at around 9:00 pm until Tuesday.
Students’ representative says the shortage of water and electricity has persisted for one week.
He wonders why the administration is not providing the services, yet they pay fees.
Another student says they decided to protest because they have been crying for several times without any response.
University Vice Chancellor, Samson Wasara admits that power went off due to technical problem.
An anonymous lecturer says the protestors are used by some teaching staff not happy with reforms made by the new Vice Chancellor.
Last year, Vice Chancellor Samson Wasara fired some staff members from the university administrative positions due to lack of qualification, the source says.
Wasara also sets tough rules on the university financial management which made some staff unhappy, he adds.
The Vice Chancellor believes there could be some staff members who want to use the students for their own interests.
