The United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF condemns the abduction of some 100 children from western Ethiopia last Friday during a brutal attack by suspected South Sudanese cattle raiders.
UNICEF says it staff is assessing the situation of children affected by the terrible violence to support the affected community.
Any attack on children for whatever reason is a violation of human rights, the agency says.
It is an assault on common humanity, UNICEF decries.
UNICEF is calling for the swift and unconditional release to the abducted families.
