The Secretary for Agriculture and Food Security in the Nuba Mountains is calling on all farmers to separate seeds for planting from consumption crops.

Hafsa Idris Almarin says there are some crops that carry disease right from harvesting like black powder in sorghum, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

She says the disease affects production later if not removed.

Idris adds that there is no medicine in her secretariat for farmers to treat crops before planting.

She says there are many types of chemicals for different purposes in plantation.
