The Political Parties Council has announced registration of eleven political parties in South Sudan.

Out of 18 parties that submitted applications to the Council, seven were denied registration, Radio Bakhita reports.

The Council published a notice that the decision was reached after careful consideration of supporting documents required by the law.

The Political Parties’ Council registered African National Congress, SPLM, Democratic Change Party, South Sudan Democratic Forum and National Congress Party among others.

Bol Toby Madut, a member of SANU, one of the parties denied registration by the Council says their party is unhappy about the decision.

Toby was speaking to Bakhita Radio on Tuesday.

The leadership of the Council could not be reached for comment on the fate of the parties that were denied registration.
