Bishop Lodu asks government to find solution to roaming cattle

Yei Catholic Bishop appeals to the government to take necessary steps to address the pastoralists’ problem of grazing cattle on farmland.
 
Speaking in Bari, Bishop Erkolano Lodu Tombe says it is worrying that cattle roam and feed in farming areas to frustrate their efforts of eliminating starvation, Radio Easter reports.
 
Why are 300 thousand cattle overgrazing in Lainya, Kajo-Keji and Morobo Counties where crops are produced? He asks.
 
The bishop foresees potential conflict between crop farmers and cattle herders if no immediate appropriate measures are taken.

The bishop made the remarks at Mary the Mother of Mercy Chapel at Limuro in Lainya Parish.
