The government will double earlier plan of planting two million trees annually to cope with environmental climate changes in South Sudan, the national Minister of Environment has announced.
Deng Deng Hoc Yai says the Ministry of Environment’s plan of double tree planting project in the country will depend on availability of resources, Radio Bakhita reports.
Ministry of Environment also wants to expand the existing 34.2 percent of South Sudan’s forestry and wetlands, Deng discloses.
He urges every citizen to plant at least five additional trees in their homesteads to achieve the target of meeting global climate change easily.
Minister Deng also warns tough measures against sound pollution by disco operators and generators in urban centres like Juba City.
He advocates for the use of solar energy to guard against global warming.
The Minister of Environment was speaking during Bakhita Radio ‘Wake Up Juba’ Show on Friday morning.
