The African Union or AU High Level Implementation Panel on Sudan and South Sudan has regretted the refusal of SPLM-North and UMMA parties to sign roadmap agreement on national dialogue.

Other parties that declined to sign the roadmap agreement include Justice Equality Movement, JEM and Sudan Liberation Movement/Army-Mini Minawi-SLM/A-MM.

Thabo Mbeki, the chairperson of AU High Level Implementation on Sudan and South Sudan expects the parties to reconsider their position.

The Panel will submit a report to the African Union Peace and Security Council to seek instructions deemed appropriate, Mbeki says in a statement.

The Panel’s roadmap agreement proposes necessary humanitarian assistance to conflict affected populations in Darfur, Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile among others.

The Government of Sudan signed the Panel’s proposal in agreement on Monday.
