After the CPA, many southern Sudan Musicians came up to compose different types of music including reggae, love and moral songs.
In a meeting with a delegation of Central Equatoria State Musicians’ Union headed by its chairman, Mido Samuel, Mr. Barson urged them to remain enthusiastic and committed in doing their career.
He expressed government concern and commitment to install the State Radio and Television transmitters to promote cultural programmes.
Mr. Barson said music is the only way to advocate, disseminate and portray the cultures of Southern Sudanese to the outside world.
He cited that people without culture have no direction, urging musicians to develop musical artistic styles that suit Southern Sudanese rather than copying foreign styles.
He urged the musicians to cooperate with the Ministry and pass on referendum messages to the citizens through music.
Speaking in the same occasion Mido Samuel, Chairman of Central Equatoria state Musicians’ Union listed lack of support, copyright laws and lack of theatre to perform their artistic activities as challenges that face Musicians in the state.
