The rainy season is approaching to usher another cholera outbreak in South Sudan this year, the Director of Health Education and Promotion in the Ministry of Health warns.

Mary Denis advises South Sudanese to maintain high standards of hygiene by burying faeces of children and avoiding open defecation to escape the epidemic.

Continue to wash hands with clean water and soap or ash at all times, she appeals.

Report any case of open defecation to the Ministry of Health for immediate redress, the Director says.

Director Denis says everything possible must be done to get rid of faeces in any residence to avoid courting cholera epidemic.

She discourages people from drinking untreated water fetched directly from the river.

Boil or chlorinate your water before drinking for your own safety, Director Denis appeals.
