Over 30 thousand Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs in Malakal are now living in temporary shelters that are extremely crowded, says the International Organisation for Migration, IOM.

The condition leads to poor sanitation and increases the risk for the spread of diseases, says the agency.

The fighting which erupted on February 17 this year forced most IDPs to flee their shelters to some areas of the UNMISS base.

They perceive the areas to be safer.

But, the agency assesses that the areas are not suitable for accommodating thousands of IDPs.

The IDPs want South Sudanese to live in peace.

IOM and other humanitarian organizations are working to provide sufficient shelters ahead of the rainy season.
