About 30 breastfeeding mothers with malnourished children abandoned Torit State Hospital wards due to lack of food.

Director for Nutrition in Imotong State Ministry of Health, Rachel Awadia says the state hospital has not received food supply for the last two months, Radio Emmanuel reports.

She says such a situation affects malnourished children severely.

World Food Programme, WFP stopped supplying food to Torit hospital since the beginning of this year, Awadia says.

She estimates that over 300 children receive nutritional services at Torit Hospital Outpatient Therapeutic Department.

The children are malnourished because their parents do not have enough food to eat at homes due to looming starvation at the state, Awadia says.
