At least 18 people were killed and many children sustained injuries and suffer separation from their parents, says United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF.

UNICEF says it is responding to needs of children in the aftermath of violence inside UNMISS Malakal Protection of Civilians site last week.

The Children Agency and partners say they have provided tents and health supplies for mobile medical clinics for the children.

They also created a child helpdesk to reunite unaccompanied children and mothers.

Since Thursday, the helpdesk has registered 58 unaccompanied children, says UNICEF.

55 of them are now reunified with their families, the Agency discloses.
