Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO appreciates the great role religious leaders played in realizing peace during the clashes in Wau.
Religious leaders contributed positively in calming the situation by praying and preaching messages of peace and reconciliation among communities, Stephen Robo Musa, CEPO Coordinator says, Radio Voice of Hope reports.
Robo also welcomes the stand of the state government in resolving the issue peacefully.
Last Sunday Fr Moses Peter asked the faithful in Holy Trinity Church to pray for forgiveness and mercy for those who were the cause of the conflict.
The Church leaders believe some local politicians spread rumours to cause the unrest in Wau.
Sources at Wau Hospital say the death toll has reached 20.
Others say more than 40 people died during the violence among them civilians, police and the SPLA.
