The United Nations, UN Humanitarian Coordinator for South Sudan says he is deeply saddened by the tragic killing of at least 18 people in Malakal.

The dead includes two aid workers, Eugene Owusu reveals.

The Humanitarian Coordinator sends condolences to the families of those killed.

He calls on all those responsible for the violence to be held to account.

The events which took place on last week are utterly blameworthy, says Owusu.

The Coordinator says it is absolutely unacceptable that the place of refuge has become a site where people have been killed and injured.

Humanitarian partners are rapidly mobilizing additional supplies to respond to the new needs generated by the violence, he says.
