The Deputy headmaster of Debi Model Primary School of Heiban County appealed to the authorities in the Nuba Mountains to help the school with scholastic materials.

Moaris Barnaba Anyjilo said the school with 583 pupils is desperately in need of text books, exercise books, blackboards and teachers, Radio Voice of Peace reports.

The deputy headmaster of the school says of the 583, pupils only 200 are girls and they continue to dropout consistently.

The Education Supervisor in Debi Payam Yousif Abdalla says lack of support from the community contributed to poor educational structure.

He states that parents are unwilling to support their children and that girls are at risk of failing to attend education.

The supervisor notes there are few teachers in the school assisting pupils who passed their primary certificate exams and are looking to join secondary schools.
