A young boy was accidentally shot dead when a relative was cleaning a gun in Farish area of Heiban County in Nuba Mountains.
A 12-year-old Kaluka George Bakhit was killed on Saturday when they were grazing their cattle, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
The man ignorantly pulled the trigger not knowing that the gun contained a bullet, explained Musa Bashir Teka Police Director at Kumbur Payam.
He said the man at first tried to escape but later surrendered himself to the local chiefs and is now under police custody.
The Director said many people do not know how to handle guns posing serious risk to the community.
He also advised that those owning guns should handle them with great responsibility.
The Police Director said guns have rules and those handling them should fully be aware.
He recalled that over four cases happened due to mismanagement of firearms last year.
