Lauro Peace agreement signed by three communities on September 21 is among the 2009 leading Eastern Equatoria State achievements.
Governor Aloisio Emor Ojetuk recalled the state achievements to Radio Emmanuel in his Christmas and New Year message.
Didinga, Buya and the Toposa communities signed a peace deal ending a long conflict that claimed hundreds of lives and loss of property.
Mr. Ojetuk said Lauro has turned into a township with booming businesses as a result of the peace conference.

Mr. Ojetuk added that the state has also opened three schools and a fourth in Lauro is under completion.

Mr. Ojetuk underlined that Eastern Equatoria state registered some results in fighting food insecurity as hunger poised a major threat to the population.
The Governor added that his state in 2009 recorded improvements in the health sector and infrastructure development.
