Residents and business people in Eastern Equatoria State say they are facing roughness in preparing for Christmas.

Consumers are complaining that they could not afford to buy gifts for their loved ones, Radio Emmanuel reports.

Prices of commodities are too high to meet, they say.

Meanwhile shop owners are experiencing low sales.

Stella Mwini, one of the sellers says survival in the area is very hard.

Nicolas Tsimbya who sells Christmas trees and flowers at Omoliha market says no customer had bought anything from him.

Customers walk around asking how much an item costs but go away without buying, he adds.

But Eastern Equatoria state governor Louise Lobong Lojore urges citizens to tolerate the difficulties because raising the dollar rate is the best solution to have a stable economy.

In Torit a family of five children needs an estimated amount of more than 7000 SSP to have a good Christmas celebration.

Prices of shoes and clothes as well as flowers are what children demand most but unfortunately most parents cannot make them available.
