Katiko Referral Hospital in Kapoeta South County of Eastern Equatoria is at a critical stage of collapsing.

MP Peter Lokuju Lotirmoi says most of its services are coming to stop due to lack of funds, doctors and staff, water and poor transport, Radio Emmanuel reports.

He says 14 staff working at the Hospital described the situation as worst and needs urgent attention.

Ann Itto, the Health Minister in Eastern Equatoria, says the national government stopped supporting the hospital since 2011.

The situation is bad and will soon stop providing services to patients since the state cannot manage to run the institution, she admits.

MP Severino Maira suggests the Hospital be sold to a private company since the government finds difficulties to run it.

Katiko Referral Hospital in Eastern Equatoria State is one of the biggest health facilities under the national Ministry of Health.

But it has since been managed by the state.
