OFFICIALS MEET TO IRON OUT LAND GRUDGES

Top officials in the GoSS Ministry of Housing and Central Equatoria State met today to iron out the misunderstanding on who should register and issue land certificates.

Section 54 of the Land Act authorizes the Ministry of Housing to register land.
Talking to SCR, Ladu Benjamin, chairperson of the Land commission, said that the public is confused on who should do the registration of title deeds.
He clarified that all levels of government have a right to register land adding that the Ministry of Housing is keeping all records related to land.

Mr Ladu added that certificates shall be issued by state governments because they are the only the authorities in that respective state who know the land owners.

The meeting was attended by the GoSS Minister of Housing, Goss Minister of Environment, the governor of Central Equatoria State, Central Equatoria Minister of Infrastructure and other officials.
