The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek and Wau have agreed to prioritize education
This will be done through a collaboration where the diocese of Rumbek will continue the education activities it was doing in the parishes of Gordhim and Nyamllel that have been handed back to Wau Diocese.
Speaking to Good News Radio, Bishop Caesar Mazzolari of Rumbek confirmed that cooperation in opportunities between the two dioceses will continue in order to sustain some of the work done by the education and health departments of Rumbek Diocese.
Bishop Mazzolari clarified that the collaboration will involve a memorandum of understanding between the two dioceses, adding that it will be good for Wau Diocese to take the first initiative.
Gordhim Mission, on its part, has a well administered Comboni Primary School as revealed by Mr. Gachube, the teacher trainer for Rumbek Diocese, who said that Gordhim Comboni School has a high standard of discipline, attributing this to the cooperation of the teachers.
The Catholic Diocese of Rumbek took under its care the two missions of Gordhim and Nyamllel 17 years ago, when the Bishop of Wau was impeded from accessing the areas covering these two geographically vast missions.
