A non-governmental organization says it will organize villages’ competition for latrine construction in Torit County of Eastern Equatoria State.
Rural Water and Sanitation Support Agency, RUWASSA Director, Joseph Kenyi announced the plan during the celebration World Toilet Day, Radio Emmanuel reports.
Kenyi says there are fewer latrines in Torit County as compared to its population.
He urges school children pupils to take a lead in campaigning for pit latrines construction at their homes.
Torit County Health Director, Mathew Ohide warns the community against the dangers of open defecation.
He says the recent outbreak of cholera that killed many people is a result of open defecation.
