89 schools situated in South Sudan’s hard hit conflict zone remain nonfunctional, United Nation Children Fund, UNICEF says.

30 of those schools are used for military purposes, Radio Bakhita reports.

Displaced people occupy more than 50 schools.

UNICEF Representative in South Sudan, Ettie Higgins, says the agency is still engaging the warring parties to vacate the schools for normal operation.

She calls on local authorities to provide security for the displaced people occupying schools to return home.

South Sudan conflict dislodges about 40 thousand children out of school.
