Canadian humanitarians to advocate for release of child soldiers

Canadian Romeo Dallaire Initiative to South Sudan officials are visiting the country from Monday to Friday to seek release and support for children associated with armed groups.
 
UNICEF in a statement on Monday says the visit focuses on ending the recruitment and use of children in armed conflicts.
 
A distinguished Canadian Military career humanitarian, Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire and Executive Director Shelly Whitman will meet child soldiers in Juba and Pibor.
 
They will speak to government, United Nations officials and members of the international community.
 
Greater Pibor Administrative Area Chief David Yau Yau recently demobilized over one thousand children from the Cobra Faction.
