In an effort to fight food insecurity and mounting commodity prices traditional leaders from Juba County Payams have petitioned government to empower them by law to impose compulsory farming for all households.

Speaking during an occasion to recognize Jubek State creation by President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday, Chief Denis Darmalo Fundi lamented that the current powers of traditional leaders do not guarantee them to enforce food security policies by at least penalizing idlers and vagrants as they used to do traditionally.

Juba County SPLM Secretary pledges to liaise with local government authorities to ensure that compulsory farming regulation sees the light of the day in the country.
