Hundreds of citizens including civil societies, chiefs and intellectuals in Raja County of Western Behr El Ghazal State on Monday rejected joining them to Lol State, demanding making Raja a state of its own.

Raja intellectuals’ representative Adil Athanasio Surur says they support creation of new states in South Sudan, but they cannot live with people of Aweil who are cattle keepers while their communities are farmers, Radio Voice of Hope reported.

He appeals to President Salva Kiir to consider granting them a state to avoid future conflict between farmers and pastoralists’ communities.

Western Bahr El Ghazal State Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan calls on Raja citizens to be ready for all possibilities which might come due to their demand.
