Voice of Women Club in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal State on Wednesday conducted a one-day workshop to equip its members with skills on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and gender-based violence.
The Club Chairlady Theresa Pasquale Madut says the training aims at building capacity of the members on the Resolution to help them fight violence against women and maintain peace and security in their communities, Radio Voice of Hope reported.
State Gender, Child and Social Development Ministry Director-General Ann Daniel Ali in her opening remarks urged participants to know their roles and be ready to compete with men in any decision making process.
Participants conversed on effects of harmful traditional practices of South Sudan communities and how to combat them.
Women also expressed their gratitude to acquire new knowledge about UN Security Resolution 1325, affirming to convey the message they gained to the grass root women in the whole state.
The workshop drew together 30 women from Voice of Women Club, Women Union and social workers.
