UNICEF, MSF screen 29,731 children for malaria in Bentiu

United Nations Children Fund or UNICEF and Medicine Sans Frontiere or MSF Holland organized a campaign of malaria presumptive treatment screening 29,731 children aging from six months to five years in Bentiu Protection of Civilian site due to rampant cases of fever.
 
In a statement over the week, 54 percent of those screened, 16,112 children were treated for malaria.
 
The statement says on September 22, UNICEF, WFP and other partners deployed two Rapid Response Mechanism missions to Koch and Buaw in Koch County to deliver multi-sectoral assistance to highly vulnerable populations.
 
It adds that UNICEF team would screen and treat children under the age of five for malnutrition; providing immunization services to children under 15 and pregnant women in coming days.
 
UNICEF in collaboration with state Ministries of Health, WHO and health partners launched the first of two rounds of Sub-national Immunization Days in five states including Lakes, Warrap, Jonglei, Upper Nile and Unity.
