The Principal of St Daniel Comboni Teachers’ Training Institute in Kauda on Monday called on all girls in the Nuba Mountains to abandon early marriage in order to complete their education.
Sister Cinta Mutisya stresses the need to educate both boys and girls to ensure equal opportunity for national growth, challenging girls to take education seriously and that they should take concrete step to reject early marriage, Radio Voice of Peace reported.
El Obeid Catholic Diocesan Education Coordinator Sr Cathy Solano advises girls not to marry when they are young and that they should spend more time in their studies and get married between 25 and 30 years old, a mature stage.
Early marriages in the Nuba Mountains force girls to drop out in schools, posing difficulty for them to complete high education.
