BOSTON COMPANY TO BOOST SOUTH SUDAN ECONOMY

“On the Frontier”, a global consultancy group based in Boston, USA, is willing to boost the economy of Eastern Equatoria through tapping natural resources in the state.

“On the Frontier” works with the World Bank and the ministry of Commerce in the Government of Southern Sudan, to develop an industrial competitive strategy in the region.
In a meeting with Eastern Equatoria Governor, Louis Lobong Lojore, the group said it would focus on key economic potentials in the state.

Mr. Lino Gabriel Warkok, the inspector for industrial development in the Government of Southern Sudan Ministry of Commerce is the team leader for the visiting group.
He said the government of Eastern Equatoria suggested agriculture and livestock in addition to minerals, trade and tourism to be included as the key sectors of its economy.
Mr. Warkok added that the assessment considered capacity of employment and export volume in terms of revenue

Mr. Hashim Wasswa, a senior consultant with the group, said they are in Eastern Equatoria to study the potentials that can be exploited to build the revenue base of Southern Sudan. He added that the team has carried research in six states of Southern Sudan that have been identified for livestock, stone quarrying, cereals, and construction industries among other key sectors.
