More than twenty thousand people were displaced in Upper Nile state following clashes between former SPLA soldiers and active SPLA soldiers.

Speaking to SRS yesterday in Juba, South Sudan Legislative Assembly member for Fashoda county, Onyot Adik, said the displaced are scattered in Lul, Malakal and Fashoda towns.
Mr. Adik explained that over one thousand people arrived in Malakal but lack tents and mosquito nets.

He revealed that only food items were provided but also non-food materials are needed.
Mr. Adik denied claims that the people of Fashoda County are displaced by local militia.
He appealed to the Government of Southern Sudan to intervene to settle the issue and bring peace and stability to the region.
