A range of new community-based DDR Reintegration projects in Central Equatoria are likely to reach an estimated 3,500 beneficiaries.

A press statement from UNDP affirms that the projects target demobilized Women Associated with Armed Forces (WAAF), female ex-combatants, as well as non military members of their respective communities.

Four grassroots partners have been awarded grants by Pact. Each organization will provide female DDR participants and community members’ access to economic cooperatives, adult literacy programs and livelihood groups, such as tailoring, brick making, indigenous arts and crafts production and restaurant cooperatives.

William Deng Deng, Chairperson of the South Sudan DDR Commission, appreciated the grants and highlighted that also the members of local communities receiving ex combatants and WAAF can also benefit from reintegration support.

Judith McCallum, Country Director of Pact Sudan, said Pact Sudan is proud to support this pilot project, which will later expand to Lakes state.
